The western parts, adjoining the Arabian Sea, have a predominantly coastal character, while the eastern parts consist of relatively elevated areas. The landscape of the Kalliassery area is notable for its combination of paddy fields, coconut groves, and water bodies. Official records also indicate that the western boundary of Kalliassery village is shared with the Mattool River.

The region is characterized by fertile paddy fields suitable for agriculture and land suitable for cultivating crops such as coconut and rice. In the coastal areas, fishing and allied occupational activities play an important role in the local economy.
